Aleutian Precipice Earrings

Chiaroscuro

Named for the Aleutian arc, where volcanic islands fall away into cold water, the earrings are drawn as a pair of stylised hourglasses and read as a vertical descent.

Green tourmalines, cut into graduated cylinders that taper toward the centre, are set into shibuichi and traced with inverted diamonds, a block of small emeralds interrupting the line at one end. An engraved Japanese inscription lies beneath the surface, veiled by the oxidation it was worked into. The pair is deliberately unmatched in texture.
