Into the dreams…

This October I will be returning to PAD London with Second Pétale, where Arina Pouzoullic has curated ten jewels from my work for this year’s presentation, Into the dreams…

Every PAD still feels slightly dreamlike to me. I sometimes have to pinch myself at the warmth with which the work has been received, and at how far it has travelled beyond the small circle in which it began.

Arina has been an important part of that journey. Her work with Second Pétale comes from a genuine passion for extraordinary jewellery and for the people who make it. She believed in what I was trying to create very early, when I had only just begun developing this high jewellery identity as Hugo Cahill. Her curiosity, her eye and her willingness to make space for work that does not fit comfortably into familiar categories have meant a great deal to me.

Perhaps that is why I wanted to show you Naiad Arina.

The earrings were realised in Paris with Atelier Mathon, as a response to something I recognise in Arina’s relationship with jewellery: exuberance, curiosity and an instinct for the unexpected. Cinnabar red lacquer folds around two diamonds, with graduated pearls tracing the edges. They are one of the ten pieces she has chosen for London.

This year’s selection brings together works from L’Eau Trois and Chiaroscuro, and I am very much looking forward to seeing them together in Berkeley Square.
